We recommend that you routinely clean your Handsfree Handling headcollar and muzzle to keep it looking good and help to keep it as hygienic as possible. We would recommend that both items are handwashed only.

If you suspect that the animal you are going to use the headcollar and muzzle on has any form of respiratory or skin infection that could be passed on, we strongly advise that both items are thoroughly cleaned after every use and to keep the muzzle and headcollar for sole use on the infected animal to prevent passing any infection onto another.

Furthermore, if you suspect a potentially contagious animal we would recommend that instead of putting the whole of the Horslyx Mini into the muzzle, you use a spoon to smear some of the lick onto the bottom of the muzzle and repeat this process until such time as the animal is not considered to be contagious. He/she can then have free access to their lick in the future without the worry of contamination.

We would also recommend that a lick is for the sole use of one horse/pony and not shared with others to minimise the risk of cross contamination. We also recommend that you use caution when using this product on a horse or pony that is either possessive or aggressive around food.

Please note that whilst the clips on our headcollar and muzzle are durable, should a horse pull back violently when tied up, the clips will break to prevent injury to the horse.
